Mom saw me off 40 min ago.
There’s no electricity, the city’s in ruins, they’re running out of food, water, and hope.
My mum, usually so emotional, hasn’t shed a single tear while being on the phone, hasn’t lost her nerve under fire, hasn’t said a word of complaint about street fights. On Feb 24, at 6:00 a.m. she withdrew the money she sent, then stood in line at the pharmacy and in the store, she had already been preparing dried biscuits and equipping the cellar in the afternoon. And today — incredibly — she sowed tomato seeds.
I had been taking away two children from Kyiv, one of them a daughter of my best school friend. Both children’s parents, relatives, and schoolmates are staying in Sumy. Tonight, everyone is saying their goodbyes to each other.
We know all the latest news from Sumy first-hand.
My eyes are dry. I don’t know how to go on with my life. If my mum, my brother, all my nearest and dearest die, I’ll be blaming EVERY Russian for the rest of my life. Every single one!
