The Vancouver branch of the charitable organization Ukrainian Canadian Social Services presented medical equipment for distribution to hospitals around Ukraine.
Roman Waschuk, Canadian ambassador to Ukraine, and Roman Sawycky, president of Ukrainian Canadian Social Services-Vancouver, showed the equipment at the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics in Kyiv on Jan. 31.
The organization delivered three containers with medical tools worth $800,000. The equipment includes operating and examination tables, electric and mechanical wheelchairs, walkers, gurneys, patient lifts, hospital beds, bedding, rehabilitation item, centrifuges and others.
These items will be distributed to hospitals, rehabilitation centers, seniors homes and children’s centers in five oblasts, namely Donetsk, Rivne, Poltava, Chernivtsi and Kyiv.
Early, Ukrainian Canadian Social Services refurnished a kitchen and installed a dental office in a children’s hospital in Chernivtsi. Also, the organization provided mattresses to senior’s home in Ternopil Oblast as well as medical equipment and diapers to the hospital No. 2 in Ternopil.
“For today this is just a small part, with continuing support we look forward to expanding this project,” Sawycky said in his statement.
